My sweet tooth kicks in far more often than I should admit, and I often times find myself scrambling for some chocolate-y goodness. I figured other people HAVE to be in this same boat, so I put together a list of my favorite bakeries in the Des Moines area!

1. Molly's Cupcakes. This cute shop in the East Village makes my heart skip a beat. With bar style seating, the seats are swings! Mix the swings with the delicious cupcakes and I feel like I'm 6 again. There are more cupcake flavors than I have ever dreamed even exists, along with ice cream, cookies, bars, pies and even cheesecake!!

2. Scenic Route Bakery. Serving light lunches and all your coffee needs this bakery is in a perfect location, and is so cute! They also whip up cookies, croissants, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and scones, and let me tell you, DELISH!

3. Hiland Bakery. The little neighborhood this bakery in is SO cute!! They have the most delicious donuts and cookies for days!! You can also find cinnamon rolls, croissants, sticky rolls, dutch letters and cream puffs. YUM!

4. One Sweet Kitchen. This cute little kitchen specializes in delicious cookies of all kinds, including sugar cookies, vegan cookies, monster cookies, and chocolate chip cookies!! Something for everyone!!

5. Créme Cupcake & Dessert. This is the kind of place an adult dreams about getting dessert at. With cupcakes, cookies, bars, cake truffles, and cinnamon rolls, there are so many options to choose from. AND - it's also a dessert lounge!! That's right, get your homemade desserts paired with house cocktails!

6. The Bake Shoppe. The Bake Shoppe has so much to offer, in the best way possible! Baked fresh, the menu features bread, buns, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, cookies, and pies!!
