12 Heated Patios in Des Moines

As the weather starts to change, find your way to a heated patio! Stay warm AND enjoy the outdoors, even as the temps drop! Whether you're looking for something a little classier, or just a fun night out, we've found all the options. Looking for heated patios in Des Moines? We've got 'em all.

Here are 12 heated patios in the Des Moines area!

Gilroy's keeping us cozy this fall!!

  1. Centro. Centro is the perfect place for groups with differing tastes! The menu ranges from pasta to burgers, and has something for everyone! The drinks are delicious, the food is outstanding, and the service can't be beat. Throw in a heated patio? This is a must try spot!

  2. Johnny's Italian Steakhouse: Altoona. With all the pastas, steaks, and seafood you could dream of, this restaurant checks every box. My personal favorite is the appetizer sampler, and believe me, it's big enough to just be your meal, and your guests'! Everything is delicious, including the drinks. Plus, enjoy a lovely patio, fit for all seasons.

  3. Gilroy's Kitchen + Pub + Patio. Our #deetzteam love a laid back patio with delicious food and great service. Gilroy's serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, along with a fabulous drink menu! What's better than brunch on a heated patio??

  4. Sonny's Bistro. This enclosed patio at Sonny's is my favorite place to be all year round. While the Italian-inspired menu isn't incredibly large, the options are well thought - and everything is DELISH! I recommend the Chef's Pasta to everyone who will listen. The restaurant is small and local, making it a top 5 in my book. See you on the warm patio!

  5. Magee's Irish Pub. The name truly says it all! The menu here is very Irish based, with out of the box options in comparison to neighboring restaurants. The patio is a great place to be in the summer, and throw in those heaters, you'll find yourself coming back again and again.

  6. Louie's Wine Dive. With only three locations across the midwest, this local chain is fabulous. Serving dinner, lunch, and brunch, this classier option is a great choice for date night. Enjoy any season on their patio as well!

  7. Django. Django is the cutest, French-inspired spot in downtown! The menu is full of vegetarian and gluten free options, and enjoying them on a heated patio? The best of both worlds!

  8. District 36. My favorite after work happy hour is by far District 36. Not only are the deals great and the drinks delicious, but the atmosphere is fabulous. The patio has a lovely view of the pond, and whether it's chilly or warm, you'll always be comfortable under the heaters!

  9. Aposto at the Scala House. This is a literal house-turned-restaurant, and we are here for it! The vibes are sooo good, and the food is even better. Offering plenty of shareable options and delicious desserts, sitting under a heater on their "front porch" patio seems like the perfect weekend plans.

10. Lua Brewing. Let's pretend it's always summer at this tiki-inspired brewery. The patio is almost always open, and heated in the colder months. While the food menu is small, it is great for sharing and pairing with their own beers.

11. Trailside Tap. This cute spot in Ankeny has multiple healthy-ish options for snacks, dinner, and beer! The drink list is a great size, and everything is amazing. Enjoy the patio all year long, and sit under those heaters.

12. The Breakfast Club. Open every morning until 2:30PM, this is a great place when you're just craving breakfast - and maybe a cocktail or two! Sitting on the patio for brunch in the summer is quite possibly my prime, but I can't wait for the weather to turn and enjoy my mimosa under a heater.
